Play It Forward Fundraiser
Tickets are now on sale for the casino night fundraiser, “Play it Forward,” to help raise money for the Bayou Country Children’s Museum.
The 9th annual event will be held at Bayou Country Children’s Museum (211 Rue Betancourt) in Thibodaux starting at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 13. Tickets are $50 per person if purchased before April 7th. Tickets purchased after April 7th are $65 per person. Ticket prices include food, beverages, live entertainment and gaming chips for professionally run gaming tables including Poker, Blackjack, Craps and Roulette (must be 21 to enter).
The fundraiser is one of two benefits the museum puts on every year. The other fundraising event is “Night at the BOO-seum” which takes place in the fall.
Ticket may be purchased online at www.bayoucountrychildrensmuseum.org or by calling the Museum at 985-446-2200. For $50, participants will get food, beverages, live entertainment and $200 in “funny money” to play poker, blackjack, craps or roulette.
Professional dealers will be on-hand as well to help people learn different games. At the end of the night, dealers will count everyone’s chips to see who has the most. There will be first through third place winners and each will win different gift baskets.
Committee members have been busy securing auction items and sponsors for the adult-geared event. All proceeds go back into the museum for programming and exhibit improvements. Admission alone does not cover all of the Museum’s expenses. This fundraiser is vital to the sustainability of the museum and our mission of offering programs which engage and encourage children to learn through play educating them about South Louisiana and our unique Cajun culture.
In addition to playing casino games, participants can also bid in live and silent auctions. Designer sunglasses, restaurant gift certificates and artwork from local artists will be up for bid in the silent auction. The highlight of the auction is the purse auction. There will be three designer bags, one of which will contain a piece of fine jewelry.
As for the gentlemen, there will be a similar auction but with ice chests. And inside one of the ice chests, there will be a very nice gift as well.
Live entertainment will be provided by local musician Harley Talbot.
The Bayou Country Children’s Museum serves children ages 2 – 12 from within an eight parish area including Assumption, Ascension, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, and Terrebonne, as well as beyond.
