The River Region Chamber of Commerce is a pivotal organization representing the economic and business interests of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James Parishes in Louisiana. The Chamber focuses on fostering growth, advocating for local businesses, and enhancing the overall prosperity of the River Region. It provides valuable resources and networking opportunities for its members, ranging from small businesses to large corporations, and actively works to influence public policy that benefits the regional economy.
As a bridge between businesses, government, and the community, the Chamber promotes collaboration and development initiatives across various industries, ensuring the region remains competitive and appealing for business investments and workforce development. Additionally, it plays a vital role in organizing events, facilitating connections, and supporting critical regional industries like energy, oil and gas, petrochemicals, grain, logistics, and more.
The Chamber’s mission is deeply rooted in advocating for policies and initiatives that enhance residents' quality of life and boost the region’s economic resilience.
Summary
The Membership Coordinator plays a key role in driving membership growth and retention for the River Region Chamber. This role focuses on membership growth and retention by actively recruiting new members and implementing a comprehensive retention plan to ensure ongoing engagement and renewal. Essential duties include overseeing new member onboarding, promoting member involvement and news, organizing ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and collaborating with the Chamber team to enhance member engagement initiatives. The Membership Coordinator also leads efforts in membership development, working with staff and volunteers to support the Chamber’s growth and investment revenues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Chamber members through ongoing communication and engagement.
- Manage and coordinate ribbon-cutting events and member orientation.
- Organize and execute key member events.
- Develop new member prospects and handle membership growth initiatives, including prospect packets, communication, and new member prospecting marketing plan.
- Oversee the member journey including the awareness, recruitment, acquisition, onboarding, engagement, renewal, and retention.
- Implement and monitor the Chamber’s retention plan.
- Ensure regular communication with members for renewal reminders and membership awareness.
- Coordinate and distribute membership invoices; follow up on past-due memberships and renewals.
- Enter vendor payables and print checks in QuickBooks Online, and ensure bills are paid on time.
- Update and maintain membership data in the Association Management System (AMS).
- Act as staff liaison to the Growth and Outreach and Chamber Ambassadors Committee:
- Work with the committee chair to assist in drafting meeting agendas and coordinating materials for committee meetings.
- Attend committee meetings and communicate key points and highlights to the Chamber team.
- Participate in meetings and communicate key points and highlights to the rest of the Chamber team
- Send minutes to the CEO to include in the board meeting packet once approved by the committee chair.
- Plan and attend committee events.
Other Duties
- Attend Chamber networking events
- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization. Assist with and help manage Chamber functions on and off-site.
- Represents the organization, both internally and externally, by supporting the strategic direction, priorities, objectives, and values of the Chamber.
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties.
- Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve operational efficiencies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in event planning, membership services, or related roles may substitute for education. Experience with budget management and sponsorship coordination preferred.
- Skills: Strong relationship-building skills, able to interact with all constituent levels, including donors, board, community leaders, and staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, problem-solving, research, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks. Experience with Quickbooks Online and association management software (e.g., ChamberMaster or GrowthZone) is a plus. Able to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and advance strategic plans. Personal belief in the River Region Chamber of Commerce's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Other Requirements: Flexibility in working hours to accommodate events, including evenings and weekends, if needed. Ability to travel to and represent the Chamber at community events.
