Release Date: December 4, 2018
St. Charles Parish Hospital has been recognized as a 2018 ‘Top General Hospital’ by The Leapfrog Group. The honor is designated based on data gathered through its annual hospital survey, which compares hospital performance on national patient safety, quality, efficiency and management standards. The Luling-based facility is the only hospital in Louisiana to receive this prestigious honor this year.
"Leapfrog is proud to recognize the recipients of our most elite award for safety and quality. We're encouraged by the hard work of Top Hospitals, as well as all of the hospitals that compete for this award. Their transparency and determination delivers the best possible care in their communities," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
“This honor is a testament to efforts of each team member to create a healing, safe environment that offers exceptional healthcare to our community,” said Austin Reeder, CEO of St. Charles Parish Hospital. “Our motto of ‘Every Patient. Every Time.’ is reflected in the collaboration and engagement demonstrated daily.”
St. Charles Parish Hospital is a 59-bed facility which was created as a service district hospital in 1959. In 2014, a partnership with Ochsner Health System established the sharing of best medical practices and the implementation of advanced technology, resulting in improved quality, expanded access to care and reduction in medical costs. Since the beginning of the partnership, access to high quality healthcare has greatly expanded in St. Charles Parish including the opening of the Plantation View Medical Offices, providing expanded access to Primary Care, Urology, Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Women’s Services, as well as an outpatient Pharmacy.
“We’ve made significant investments in infrastructure, technology and expansion of services, which have led to improved outcomes, patient satisfaction and recognition by the nation’s leading quality organizations,” continued Reeder. “Our board of directors has also passionately advocated for keeping and expanding care locally.”
In 2018, 11 Ochsner facilities were recognized with an ‘A’ grade in patient safety by The Leapfrog Group. For more information about this honor or on St. Charles Parish Hospital or to make an appointment, call 985-785-6242 or visit www.ochsner.org/stch.
