RRCC endorses proposed mill renewals in St. Charles parish

LAPLACE—The River Region Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Committee voted in favor of supporting two proposed millage renewals for the St. Charles Parish Public School system.

The General Funds Maintenance and Operations ad valorem tax renewal of 43.18 mills will support the school system’s general fund, which pays for the salaries and benefits of its employees. The Construction Fund renewal, at 4.92 mills, is dedicated to the repair and upkeep of buildings.

“The St. Charles Parish School system is fiscally responsible, and they do a great job of providing an excellent educational environment for students. It is vital for us to continue supporting this great school system’s efforts as they successfully educate and build up a strong future workforce for our region,” said Henry Friloux, public policy chair, River Region Chamber of Commerce.

Both proposed mill renewals will be voted on in the upcoming April 29 election.
