    St. James Parish Prepares for Tropical Storm Sally
     
    Convent, LA – A Hurricane Warning and a Flash Flood Watch have been issued for St. James Parish.  Heavy rainfall, of 6 to 12 inches, and storm surge are the biggest threats to our area. 
     
    Please finalize all preparations today.  Residents should prepare home and business properties by securing objects that may impede drainage or become projectiles.  Also, remove any debris from catch basins and storm drains.  Residents should continue to monitor local weather stations for the latest weather updates.

    Four self-service sandbagging locations are open.  Sand and bags are available; please bring a shovel to fill sandbags.

    • Kingview Street Fire Station - 8120 Kingview Street, St. James, LA 70086
    • Gramercy Water Plant – 407 East Jefferson Highway, Gramercy, LA 70052
     
    St. James Parish Government offices will remain open for normal business hours on Monday, September 14, 2020 and will be closed on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.  The Lutcher Library, Vacherie Library, Fitness Center, and the East and West Bank Transfer Sites will close early at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2020 and will remain closed on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
     
    Residential garbage service will resume normal routes on Monday, September 14, 2020.  Routes for the rest of the week will be dependent on weather conditions. 
     
    St. James Parish officials are monitoring weather conditions and have been in contact with the National Weather Service and the Governor's Office of Homeland Security to receive the latest weather forecasts.
