Convent, LA – President Dufresne has declared a State of Emergency in St. James Parish in preparation for Tropical Depression Cristobal.  The St. James Parish Emergency Operations Center is closely monitoring this storm, which is likely to make landfall late this weekend into early next week.

Heavy rainfall is the greatest concern for our area, which is estimated to be eight to ten inches through Tuesday.  The National Weather Service is forecasting Cristobal to regain tropical storm intensity as it moves though the gulf.

Residents should prepare home and business properties by securing objects that may impede drainage or become projectiles.  Also, remove any debris from catch basins and storm drains.  Residents should also monitor latest forecasts and local weather stations.
